Por lo que la necesidad de protecci\u00f3n se hizo urgente, y se construy\u00f3 una muralla de defensa y protecci\u00f3n de la zona urbana.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pasadas estas amenazas, se hizo necesario<\/span><b> reforzar la muralla<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> por los estragos de las crecidas repentinas del Turia. As\u00ed que la instituci\u00f3n \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La F\u00e1brica de Murs e Valls<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d (creada por Pedro IV, el Ceremonioso) encarg\u00f3 la construcci\u00f3n de las Torres a Pere Balaguer, como maestro mayor de obra.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Balaguer cre\u00f3 las monumentales Torres de Serranos <\/span><b>entre el<\/b> <b>1392 y el 1398<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, en el lado norte de la muralla de Valencia. El dise\u00f1o estuvo inspirado en portales medievales, y los materiales empleados fueron exclusivamente seleccionados. Siendo el primer monumento <\/span><b>civil g\u00f3tico<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> que se construy\u00f3 en Valencia.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En el a\u00f1o 1586, las torres llegaron a convertirse en una <\/span><b>famosa prisi\u00f3n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> de caballeros y nobles.
